Founders story: The Story Behind Woman-Up
DA Woman-Up started as more than just a business idea—it was a dream fueled by everything we’ve seen and experienced as women growing up in Gilgit-Baltistan. Living in a region rich in culture and heritage, we were always in awe of the skills women around us had, from stitching intricate patterns to creating beautiful crafts. Yet, we also couldn’t ignore the struggles these women faced. Many were incredibly talented but lacked the resources, confidence, or opportunities to turn their skills into something that could support them financially
We realized that despite their potential, most women in our community were stuck in a cycle of working hard without getting the recognition or reward they deserved. Some ran small businesses out of their homes or local shops, but their reach was limited, and they couldn’t keep up with modern trends or market demands. On top of that, the lack of a centralized platform meant everyone was working in isolation, unable to grow or learn from one another.
This is what pushed us to start DA Woman-Up. We didn’t just want to create a business; we wanted to create a movement that brought women together, gave them a voice, and proved that they could be leaders in their own right.
DA Woman-Up
For us, DA Woman-Up isn’t just a business. It’s hope, courage, and a promise for a better tomorrow. Together, we’re not just stitching dresses; we’re stitching a brighter, more empowered future for the women of Gilgit-Baltistan.
